Bumpers Or No Bumpers? That Is The Question.....

In searching for the perfect bedding for our baby’s nursery I was faced with a dilemma….
Bumpers or No Bumpers?
Pretty much all bedding sets include a traditional crib bumper but there has been concern about the safety of crib bumpers as they can pose a suffocation hazard and it is now recommended that they not be used. It can be frustrating to spend so much money on a bedding set and not be able to actually use half of what is included as there are also safety concerns about the use of comforters and blankets in cribs.
So what is a parent to do?

I struggled with whether or not I should still buy a complete bedding set when all I would really be using was the bed skirt and fitted sheet. Part of me wanted to buy a complete set just for nesting sake…so that I could set up the nursery and have it looking cute and coordinated before our little one arrives and until the point he actually sleeps in his crib. But the practical part of me hated to spend the money on things that would just be for looks. Completely torn about what to do, I began searching for safer alternatives to traditional crib bumpers.

Here is a link to an article that discusses the safety concerns regarding traditional crib bumpers:

The Search….
I did find some mesh options….made of a breathable fabric and great for preventing little arms and legs from sticking through the sides of the crib…but not exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something stylish that would still look like it was part of my bedding set, something that looked soft and cozy, and something that didn’t scream “I am a safe alternative.”
I wanted safety without sacrificing style.
The Solution….

That is when I came across www.GoMamaGoDesigns.com and found exactly what I had been searching for…..

Wonder Bumpers!
Wonder Bumpers are a wonderful stylish and safe alternative to traditional crib bumpers. They are individual bumpers that zip on to each individual crib slat, keeping them in place and allowing air to flow between the slats. Perfect!

When I received my Wonder Bumpers for review (free of charge) I was so impressed with the quality and versatility. The set that I received is khaki and red. Each bumper is reversible so I can put them all on with just the red side showing, just the khaki side showing or I could create a completely unique look by alternating some red and some khaki. I could also go a step further and purchase additional bumpers (available in packs of 2) to mix in for a more interesting custom effect. In my particular case I will probably put them on with just the khaki side facing out to coordinate with the blues and browns that we have planned for our nursery color scheme. It is good to know that I could easily reverse them to the red side though if our color scheme changes…maybe when we convert the crib to a toddler bed.

I love that Go Mama Go Designs understands that parents want safety without sacrificing style.

Wonder Bumpers come in a variety of different colors and fabrics to coordinate with most nursery color schemes and each bumper is reversible so it is like having two sets in one. Go Mama Go Designs also offers complete bedding sets that coordinate perfectly with their Wonder Bumpers.

Laughing, Learning & Sharing....

This is our first baby so my husband and I want to be as knowledgeable and prepared as possible for our baby’s birth and beyond. But with work schedules and other commitments it has been difficult for us to find the time to attend a child-birthing class together. Although, I am still hopeful that we will find the time to attend an actual class through our local hospital I am not as worried or stressed about it since receiving the Laugh and Learn series of DVDs on Childbirth, Newborn Care, and Breastfeeding (free of charge) to review.
We have started watching the DVDs together and it has been so nice and so much more convenient for us to just sit down together in the comfort of our own home. The DVDs are divided into segments… for example, the Laugh and Learn About Childbirth is 4 hours and 15 minutes long on 2 DVDs but it is divided into segments (classes) that are each around 30-45 minutes long so we can decide how much we want to watch at a time and since they are on DVD we can watch them over and over again whenever we want.
Sheri Bayles, who teaches the DVD courses, is a registered nurse; an award winning Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and a mother of twins herself…so she knows what she is talking about and has a fun and unique way of teaching that will have you Laughing and Learning too. The DVDs are filmed in such a way that you feel that you are part of an actual class as there are other couples on the video interacting, sharing their experiences and asking questions. Her sense of humor and sharing of personal experiences and stories really help me to remember and retain the information that she has discussed.
These award-winning DVDs are a Must-Have for any expectant parent….Even if this is not your first baby. These DVDs offer so much information that you are sure to learn something new, pick up some helpful tips or maybe gain a better understanding of something that you never fully understood. You’ll want to keep them for review and reference with your future pregnancies and loan them out to friends who are expecting too.
If you visit the Laugh and Learn website you can actually watch the first Childbirth class for free, read reviews and testimonials, see the many celebrities who are fans of Laugh and Learn and purchase the DVDs or book for yourself or as a gift.
